Distinctive, organically grown rooibos from the cedar mountains of South Africa - wholesome, fruity and caffeine-free. The subtle tangerine note adds to the uniqueness of this blend. The rugged beauty of the "Cederberg Mountain" region in the southwest of South Africa is the home of the rooibos plant - about 200 km north of Cape Town, around the towns of Clanwilliam and Citrusdal. It is found exclusively in this area worldwide, so it is not surprising that it has made it into South Africa's national drink. It is not exactly clear how old rooibos (Afrikaans rooi = red and bos = bush) is, but in 1772 it was first described by botanist Carl Thunberg as a medicinal plant of the Khoisan people. Rooibos tea, unlike black or green tea, contains no caffeine and few tannins, so possible effects such as bitter taste or insomnia do not occur. To give the rooibos a more exclusive touch, we mixed it with a little hibiscus and tangerine, an Asian variety of the tangerine more familiar to us. The result is a great tea with a wonderful aroma that can be enjoyed late in the evening.
